Your garden revitalising process starts with an on-site consultation of about an hour to see the space and discuss what you like and dislike, plus what your needs are.
If you just need some advice on how to update your space at this first meeting, then I will invoice my hourly rate. If you would like any further consultation and drawing work done, then I will follow up the visit with an itemised quote as outlined in The Design and Consultancy Process. Your quote is based on The Landscape Institutes ‘Landscape Consultant’s Scope of Services’. Each stage of work is clearly described and priced and I invoice after each stage. I will proceed to the next stage after stage payment is received.
If you have any scaled plan drawings of the plot this is helpful. I often take measurements and note plants to retain at the first meeting to get the designing started. (Depending on the size of the garden, sometimes it is necessary to employ a land surveyor. They will survey and plot the garden boundary and its existing features and levels to provide a digital drawing from which I can create an accurate design. I can help you get quotes for surveyors. It may also be necessary for me to return and do a detailed plant survey if many trees and plants are to be retained and worked around.)
I can advise on any planning issues that may apply to works and supply appropriate planning department drawings if necessary.
The Design and Consultancy Process
Sketch design
After our first meeting I use all my collected data to make an initial design that I will present to you. This is a hand drawn coloured sketch design with an image sheet for you to consider at your leisure.
Detailed design
If the design meets your requirements, I can draw this up as a scaled drawing showing materials, taking into account any minor changes you may require. You can use this drawing to order products and materials and create the garden yourself, or alternatively it could be used for a garden contractor to follow.
Planting plan & construction details
If required I can also create a further detailed planting plan with a plant ‘shopping list’, and design and draw technical details to help with bespoke elements such as steps, water features, lighting, or patio areas.
Finding a landscape contractor
If you require three quotes for the construction/planting works I can organise documents for a tender process, this may also involve meeting potential landscape contractors on site to view the works and discuss work access, sequencing etc.
Work supervision
I am more than happy to do plant nursery visits to select the right specimens for you. I can also supervise the ground works and planting to complete the full transformation of your garden.
All of these consultancy services can be quoted for depending on the size of the garden and complexity of the needs.
